Himeka Shiratori, a.k.a. Shadow White, fights day and night against these evil ayakashi, beings that emerge from the darkness and devour people's desires. One day, Himeka meets Octin, a talking octopus who escaped from an octopus dumpling shop. Himeka hides Octin in her home and lives with him. However, Octin's true identity is that of a mythical Deathtakoler sealed away by Himeka's ancestors 300 years ago.
